I am delighted to announce the date for our 2026 Annual Brain Injury Case Management Conference. We shall be returning to the Hilton in Coventry on Thursday 12th February.
Programme
This year’s programme will once again feature our popular mix of legal sessions, a personal case study and learning and development.
On the legal side and in response to a number of suggestions in last year’s feedback forms, we shall look at ‘A Day in the Life of a Deputy’. What does the deputy role entail and how a deeper understanding of their day-to-day work can help the case manager / deputy relationship.
For our case study we welcome Jack Rutter, a promising footballer whose professional playing career was ended by an unprovoked assault, leaving him with a double skull fracture, a bleed on the brain, moderate brain damage. We shall hear two perspectives on Jack’s injury and rehabilitation, one from Jack himself and one from his mother.
Daniel Thomas, Managing Director at Chroma Creative Arts Therapies will be known to many of you. Just after lunch, when energy levels dip and eyelids threaten to close, Daniel in this dynamic 20-minute session will bring you back to life through the universal power of music.
We also welcome Dr Shabnam Berry-Khan and her session ‘Cultural Competence in Rehabilitation Case Management: From Awareness to Action’. A passionate speaker, Shabnam will offer an evidence-based, reflective session exploring how cultural competence (anchored in humility, anti-oppressive practice, and an understanding of systemic and intergenerational trauma) can transform the way rehabilitation case managers engage with clients and their families.
Following Shabnam will be Ashtons’ learning and development manager, Felicity Sparkes. Felicity will look in more depth at Unconscious Bias and how a deeper understanding can help improve your client interactions.
With more sessions to be added, we can promise you an interesting and stimulating day.

Who should attend?
Once again, our day is aimed at Brain Injury Case Managers and other practitioners in the field, inclusive of therapists, support workers, social workers and those with an interest in the Court of Protection. Our aim is to come together and provide an informative and interactive day with the purpose of sharing useful practical points you can take away and apply in your everyday work in this specialist field.
The conference will again be supported by a host of relevant exhibitors who look forward to meeting you and the day continues to be an excellent networking opportunity with colleagues, referrers and suppliers alike.
Staff from Ashtons Legal will be present on the day from our Court of Protection, Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury teams who look forward to meeting you, strengthening existing relationships and building new ones.
