About this Event
As community-based organizations respond to rapidly changing needs in the communities we serve, it’s more critical than ever to build organizational power to create lasting social change.
On behalf of the board and staff of the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC), we invite you to join us for a half-day convening to discuss how social services can advocate for systemic solutions and align our teams to meet the moment.
This convening is designed for executive directors and senior leaders of nonprofit community-based organizations interested in building and strengthening their social change work. This session will focus on actionable strategies and peer-to-peer support to bring social change to social services agencies, strengthen internal capacity, build government and public relations, and drive collective action in policy and advocacy.
CPC has invested deeply in building out our government and public affairs, policy analysis, advocacy and coalition work, as well as community engagement and leadership development. We have learned from our successes and mistakes along the way, and hope to support and learn from other organizations who are doing the same. Whether your organization has been doing advocacy for years, or you are thinking about building it out in the future, we hope this convening will serve as a valuable opportunity to share experiences and best practices and collaborate on strategies to build a powerful, sustainable movement for social change in the social services field.
Topics include:
- Gaining Buy-In: Securing support from your board, leadership, and staff to create lasting change.
- Getting Started: How to build out a policy agenda and advocacy initiatives within your organization.
- Fundraising: Approaches to fundraise effectively for policy and advocacy programs, and leverage these programs for fundraising.
- Building Power: Tools for developing a robust social change program and strengthening your organization's ability to influence decision makers and lead.
To RSVP, please confirm your attendance by March 17th by registering below. Space is limited to ensure a high quality conversation, so we encourage you to register early. We also request that you limit attendance to no more than three people per organization.
We look forward to having you join us for this important conversation on advancing social justice through social services.
