⚪Answers to these questions may be valuable for every lawyer guided by the values of a democratic rule-of-law state. The case of Belarus can be an important lesson for lawyers across the free world.
🔴 The meeting will be conducted in an interactive format and open to discussion. It will be led by Maksim Palavinka and Maksim Znak.
⚪ About the speakers
🔴 Maksim Palavinka is a specialist in human rights, particularly the right to defense. He specializes in the erosion of the legal system in Belarus and has delivered papers at conferences organized by the OSCE.
⚪Maksim Znak is a Belarusian barrister, profesor, opposition activist, and former political prisoner (released only in 2025 after five years of imprisonment). He was awarded with numerous prizes like for example Disturbing the Peace Prize (Vaclav Havel Center) or CCBE Human Rights Award. He represented Viktar Babaryka, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and Maria Kalesnikava in court.
