About this Event

This talk covers the evolution of electronic communications from the early days of telegraphy and telephony to the introduction of the Radio based services that have grown into the cell phone we all have attached to us today. Covers a bit of the physics and science associated with this evolution, as well as the hand-full of entrepreneurs who saw a vision of a future based on lab experiments, the governmental and regulatory decisions that helped advance initial wireless services, and the subsidiary new technologies that changed society (the home computer and rise of the Internet) and bled over into the wireless world to became standard features of the modern cell phone.

Bio:

Ron Olexa is a distinguished professional with a remarkable career spanning senior management positions in the telecommunications industry. With over five decades of experience, Ron has played a pivotal role in designing and managing the development of some of the world's first cellular networks, contributing significantly to the evolution of global telecommunications.

As the founder and owner of Wireless Implementation LLC, Ron established the company with the mission of providing technical and business guidance to emerging communications companies. His expertise has been instrumental in supporting diverse entities, including Metropolitan Fibre operators, Satellite service providers, Wireless ISPs, and the rapidly evolving mobile multimedia industry. His efforts were so promising that AT&T decided to acquire the company in August 2005.

Continuing his career into the early 2000's, Ron was involved with several WiMax and LTE focused companies from 2006 to the 2013, including Horizon WiCom in the Northeast US and Devas Multimedia in India. Both companies, under Ron's technical guidance, aimed to leverage S band spectrum for two-way data communication services based on WiMax and LTE technology.

A published author, Ron Olexa's book, "Implementing 802.11, 802.16, and 802.20 Networks: Design, Troubleshooting and Operations," published by Elsevier Sciences in July 2004, stands as a testament to his commitment to educating companies and individuals planning to deploy high-speed data networks.

Ron Olexa's multifaceted specialties, which range from RF Engineering, Cellular System, Satellite design, Broadband Wireless Network Design, Regulatory and Business Analysis, underscore his versatile skill set.
