About this Event
Transitioning from peer to supervisor is a significant change which can be difficult to navigate. In this course, you will learn to differentiate roles, gain trust, manage diverse personalities, and communicate effectively in your new leadership position. You will be able to develop your managerial style while working together with your team towards a positive team dynamic.
Overview
For newly promoted supervisors, reframing workplace friendships into positive and productive superior/subordinate relationships can be challenging. It requires deftly honed communication and problem-solving skills.
In this session, participants will learn to leverage their core competencies in order to delegate their staff of former peers. The building blocks of supervisory excellence will be addressed, including giving performance feedback, setting boundaries and expectations, and engaging and motivating staff. Discussions on managing change also will be introduced.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to
- Differentiate the role of “supervisor” from that of “friend”
- Identify one’s supervisory strengths and roadblocks and develop one’s own management style
