About this Event

OVERVIEW

Healthcare professionals are trained to assess, diagnose, and fix. But some of the most powerful moments in patient care, and in your own wellbeing, happen when you stop gathering information and simply offer presence.

This interactive CEU Lunch & Learn brings together a professional certified coach and a licensed professional counselor to explore the intersection of coaching and counseling in healthcare settings. You'll learn to recognize which approach a moment calls for, understand the legal and ethical distinctions between the two disciplines, and build a practical relational toolkit you can use immediately with patients, colleagues, and yourself.

Burnout among healthcare professionals is not a personal failing. Research by Dr. Christina Maslach identifies three dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment) that quietly erode even the most committed clinicians over time. This session names those dimensions honestly, invites you to locate yourself within them, and offers coaching-based tools to help you begin moving from overextended to empowered.

Through didactic content, live demonstrations, and low-stakes experiential activities, you'll leave with a felt sense of what genuine presence makes possible and one concrete commitment to your own sustainable care.

You'll walk away with:

  • A clear understanding of the coaching/counseling distinction and when to apply each
  • A meta-awareness framework for catching your own thoughts, emotions, sensations, and images in real time
  • Core relational skills (paraphrasing, summarizing, minimal encouragers) reframed as tools for both patient care and self-care
  • Earn 2 contact hours to apply toward continuing education units (CEU) and a personal sustainable care commitment

Lunch is provided. Free parking available. Space is limited.
