From Awkward to Intimate: Mastering Sexual Communication

Talking about the kind of sex you hope to be having can be awkward. The unease surrounding communicating our needs, desires and boundaries can lead to miscommunication and disappointment. Every body- and every mind contained within it- are unique and different. Even the most experienced and attuned of lovers requires some guidance and feedback. So how to go about it without spoiling the mystery?

In this workshop we’ll examine the role of communication in sex and pleasure, and the advantages of communicating one’s needs, desires and boundaries. We will analyze underlying assumptions and expectations surrounding sexual encounters, and examine how they affect our communication with lovers. We’ll identify our sexual/relationship communication patterns and examine their efficacy in reaching our goals. Lastly, we’ll discuss methods of sexual communication you can use before, during and after sexual encounters, and envision ways in which we can implement them in real life.

Rachel (she/her) is the founder & Executive Director of The Pleasure Gap. She’s a sexuality educator & coach and an advocate for pleasure equality. Her personal struggles with sexual pleasure led her on a journey of learning and self-exploration which inspired her to turn to sex-education. Rachel possesses a compassionate demeanor, a silly sense of humor and a real passion for helping people conquer their fears and limitations and enjoy life to the fullest.
