✨ Meet Lizette Helena Assia Espinoza ✨
Guest instructor for our Mi Cocina, Tu Cocina cooking class series.
Lizette Helena Espinoza comes from a family of cooks and storytellers. Her love for cooking was passed down from her beloved abuelita Susana, whose flavors and traditions are deeply rooted in Costa Rica.
Born in Los Angeles to Costa Rican parents, Lizette has lived between the U.S. and Costa Rica, where she fell in love with the country’s tropical forests, wildlife, and volcanoes — all of which inspire her cooking and storytelling.
Lizette studied literature and writing at:
• University of California, San Diego
• University of California, Santa Barbara
• University of Costa Rica
• University of Texas at Austin
She teaches writing and has recently published on sustainability:(OER book link below)
Cooking has always been a way for Lizette to bring people together, connect culture, and share stories through food — and we’re so excited to welcome her into our kitchen.
