From 2D Sketches to 3D Handbuilding with Linda Crossan
Calling all clay hand builders! Do you ever find yourself stuck in a rut and need a creative jolt? This 6-week minicourse is designed to do just that.
Linda Crossan will help students think beyond traditional symmetrical forms created on the wheel and hand built with molds. At the end of this course students should feel comfortable making work using the method of creating sketches to plan out a piece before beginning construction. Once learned, this process can be utilized in the making of any clay piece hand built or wheel thrown!
Learn to use Linda’s “slab-coils” allowing the piece to develop faster while using paddles and ribs to further refine curves and angles to the most satisfying shape. The finished piece will not exceed 12” X 12”. All work will be painted with a white porcelain slip to finish with textures or a smooth surface before getting bisque fired for you to take home. This is not a beginner class: some prior hand building experience is necessary. Each student makes one piece over the 6-week minicourse. This class will push you to grow!
