FRIENDSHIP MATTERS: Are you interested in joining a Friendship Circle?
“Meet and Greet: Information Session” A meeting to open the conversation and provide information. The Meet and Greet will not necessarily include people who would be possible friend matches. After we have had enough Information Sessions to acquire enough people to form groups, we will launch groups.
CIRCLE OF FRIENDS:
The circle members will commit to building a supportive group which provides social connection and camaraderie for one another. The goal is to fill the gap sometimes not met by family, or coworkers – a place where we connect authentically. Are you tired of just meeting for outings, or going to social events, without building connection? Then this is for you.
The goal is to form a maximum of 3 facilitated groups: Based on Geography, Compatible interests and life stages. The groups will be facilitated by a retired coach – who does this on a volunteer basis.
BONUS: Learn friendship building skills, and relationship skills, you can apply elsewhere in your life.
WHY AM I OFFERING THIS?
It is not a business, not a non-profit – just a private friendship network. I am a retired coach. My passion is to make a difference. This is, IMHO, one of the biggest unmet need in our community and this is my commitment to making a difference.
STAGE 1: Launching a Friend Group
Registrants will complete a Survey which is used to match group members. Once we find 6 - 8 potentially compatible people they will meet for 6 consecutive coffee dates in a moderately central location, and will engage in conversations (with provided prompts – conversation starter cards) and teambuilding exercises. The goal is for the members to get to know one another.
STAGE 2: Establishing the Friend Group
At the end of the 6 weeks, the group will continue to meet and evolve to include activities that members can mutually enjoy. If one or more do not continue in the group, additional members will be added to bring the group up to a minimum of 6 or maximum of 12 (by potentially merging them with another compatible group.)
THE GOAL
So many say, Vancouver is a difficult place to make friends. Many of us have family, acquaintances, activity partners – but lack true friends. The goal is to break that trend. This is a completely free group – no membership fees. However, occasionally there may be small administration fees to cover incidental costs for certain events – but these will be nominal. Any costs, such as coffee, food, event fees are the responsibility of the individual.
