Come along to our exciting second disco event and dance the night away at our Disco Night featuring local legend DJ Wilkybar Kid on the decks, spinning the very best of retro classics! Our first disco in October last year was a sell out so nab yourself some tickets quick...The Friends of Upper Norwood Rec community group is fundraising for this precious public green space to help nurture and preserve it. All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards making improvements to the leisure facilities in the park.
So come along with your friends and show your support! The wonderful events team at Westow House has kindly given us their fabulous function room free of charge, so 100% of your money will go towards our work helping to make the Rec a nicer green space for all.

About the DJ...
The Wilkybar Kid, a.k.a Colin Wilkie-Jones has DJ'd at many local community events including Crystal Palace Festival, Friends of Upper Norwood Rec summer parties, and Rockmount Primary School summer fairs, as well as being a former resident DJ at Domali which used to hold legendary parties back in its day. He also used to run popular 'We are Family Disco' daytime events with his wife Veryan. Colin is passionate about many different genres of music and believes in the importance of community and conservation - so he is DJing this event as a volunteer.
About Friends of Upper Norwood Recreation Ground....
Friends of the Rec was set up as a community group in October 2022 by a group of local volunteers who felt it was important to protect and nurture this beautiful parkland and leisure space which is loved by so many but had become neglected in recent years.
Since then the group has achieved many great things including planting over 300 young trees, 700 bulbs, and various shrubs at our monthly community volunteer days and in our team sessions. Not to mention keeping the park free of litter! The group also ran a community pond digging day in November and have put up bird and bat boxes decorated by locals which you can spot all around the Rec. We would love to continue making improvements to this wonderful space.
