*PTARMIGAN
Composer Brian Wilshere returns to Crookes with his group PTARMIGAN for an evening of original and inspiring music.
Since the release of their first record in 2023, PTARMIGAN have performed at the Buxton Fringe festival, Tramlines Fringe festival (Sheffield), and at venues in York, Birmingham and elsewhere.
A second record was released early in 2024, and at Crookes in October the group will perform tracks from their third record, due for release in September.
Brian describes the music of PTARMIGAN as a "Prog/Jazz/Folk/Classical fusion", combining the rhythms and guitar textures of Prog Rock, improvised elements of Jazz, a prominent acoustic guitar drawing on the Folk tradition, and the melodic aspect of Classical music courtesy of Violinist Rob Jourdain, already well known locally as a member of Shanks' Pony.
