About this Event
What began in 2016 as a simple invitation to ‘slide off your shoes, slip into the weekend, bring a blanket, and bring a friend’ has grown into a shared experience shaped by the people who showed up, week after week.
Over the past decade, the series has welcomed nearly 130 bands and more than 700 individual musicians, creating a soundtrack that reflects the diverse music scene in South Florida and the heart of the community it serves.
Presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Beach Business Improvement District, the series has welcomed locals and visitors, longtime residents and first-timers, to gather steps from the sand for nights shaped by rhythm, community, and shared experience.
Friday Night Sound Waves has never been about genre or trends. It’s been about good music — in all its forms — and the way it brings people together.

Each of these artists represents a chapter in the Sound Waves journey — moments that brought people together, sparked new friendships, and helped transform Friday nights into a tradition that continues to grow.
Guests are invited to bring a blanket or chair, settle in, and make a night of it.
Pre-concert lawn games, local artisan vendors, and rotating food and drink offerings, starting at 5:00 pm, provide opportunities to connect before, during, and after each performance.
Whether you come to dance, listen, or simply be part of the moment, every Friday is an open invitation.
