Are you ready to celebrate creativity and diversity? Join us this Friday, November 22nd for the first of MAISON 10's Friday Night Live Artist Talk series supporting their current group show, QUEERTOPIA, a showcase highlighting 10 stellar Queer artists. Both Kate Fauvell and Gustavo Fernandez will be in the house from 6pm to 8pm.
Kate Fauvell and Gustavo Fernandez will speak about their individual pieces featured at MAISON 10 but also about their special collaboration of works, also currently on show. Be sure to RSVP as you won't want to miss this one!
Kate Fauvell is a contemporary artist and is constantly takes pictures as a means of understanding and documenting the world around us. She uses these images to create photo-based collage paintings. She cuts and tears photographs into pieces and these torn pieces replace a paint brush her primary drawing tool.
As a native New Yorker, Kate is accustomed to change. Over the course of her lifetime, the city's residents have transformed the city more times than she can count. That experience informs her art and she believes that all things change and make art that alludes to this process.
Gustavo Fernández's creation is an explosion of colors and texture. His abstract work is a product of a long period of development and evolvement of intense thoughts based on his 26 years of artistic experiences. With exhibitions around the world, including Latin America, Miami, NYC, Spain, Seoul and Beijing, he's positioned himself as one of the most relevant visual artists of the moment.
Gustavo defines his work as a devotion to inner beauty, color emotions, fervor of spirit and a spiritual desire for inner necessity. He defines himself as an artwork that never ends. This is his first showing with MAISON 10.
Doors open at 6pm with the talk set to start promptly at 7:15pm.
