Dave Newton (piano) has won Best UK Jazz Piano Player (British Jazz Awards) no less than sixteen times!His first solo piano album was released in 1988 and in the early nineties, Dave’s reputation as an exquisite accompanist for a singer spread rapidly. By ’95 he was regularly working with Stacey Kent, with whom he spent the next ten years recording and travelling all over the world. At the same time, Dave was composing and recording music which can now be heard on many television productions and in over twenty US TV movies. David was made a Fellow of Leeds College of Music in 2003 and that same year wrote the music for two new Alan Aykbourn productions. Currently he is relishing the musical freedom of his Trio, whilst working on two other new recording projects as an arranger and a composer.
Henrik Jensen (double bass) is a distinguished Danish bassist and composer who has become a prominent figure on the UK jazz scene both through his solo projects and collaborations with many notable artists such as such as Iain Ballamy and Gareth Williams. His versatility and skill have also led him to feature on various albums and he has recorded and toured with The Puppini Sisters since 2008.
Mark Whitlam (drums) has performed with some of the UK’s finest jazz musicians, such as Andy Sheppard, Iain Ballamy and Clare Teal. He has worked extensively in theatre including on Jesus Christ Superstar, We Will Rock You and Sister Act. Live performances have taken him from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall, and across Europe. His recorded work has received airplay on BBC Radio and Jazz FM and his versatility has established him as one of the first-call players in the South West.
