About this Event

On Friday 24th April a titan of Scottish comedy returns to Number 57, the one and only Phil Differ. He’ll be joined by host Jay Lynch and support act Joe Casey.

In a career spanning over thirty-five years, Phil Differ has carved a reputation as one of Scotland’s absolute best stand-up comedians and TV writers/producers. As well as being in high demand at comedy clubs across the country, Phil has been behind many of Scotland’s most popular and best loved comedy shows, including Rab C. Nesbitt, Chewin’ the Fat and Still Game to name a few, plus joke-writing credits for other big shows like Not the Nine O’Clock News and Spitting Image, accumulating more than a few showbiz tales along the way.

“He's the quiet genius of the Scottish comedy” - Rory Bremner

“The agile mind behind an impressive resume… the writing is sharp and current.” – Chortle

“Differ has had a profound effect on Scottish comedy. Part of a golden age for writers.” – Glasgowist

“Well-placed, well-timed and delivered punchlines… worth catching if you can.” – Broadway Baby

Hosting the show will be Irish comic Jay Lynch. A Scottish comedy circuit regular, Jay performs at the best clubs in the country, frequently being chosen to host Red Raw at The Stand Comedy Club. One of the rising stars of Scottish comedy, Jay recently sold out his Glasgow International Comedy Festival Show. He was also featured at the ‘Back Doune the Rabbit Hole’ festival.

"Big Energy, Big Laughs" - The Stand

A rising star from Newcastle, opening act Joe Casey was shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Awards, as well as being the the 2024 Stockton Gong runner-up, and a recipient of the 2025 Keep it Fringe Fund.

“One of the best new acts on the scene. Engaging, original and very funny.” - Vladimir McTavish

“A really relaxed and natural stage presence, super big hitter. He nailed it.” - The Stand

Middle act TBA.

**PLEASE READ CAREFULLY**

· Tickets can be refunded or exchanged no less than 24 hours before the show.

· Line-ups can be subject to change at short notice.

· The show is in three 30 minute parts separated by two intervals. Doors open at 7pm, one hour before the start time of 8pm. Please arrive before the show starts but not before 7pm. Attendees who arrive late will not be granted admission or a refund.

· Don’t talk or heckle during the performances. This rule is NOT optional. It is very distracting for both the performer and other audience members. Some performers (usually the host) might talk to the audience, but otherwise please let the comedians do the talking. Heckling does not ‘help the show’. Think of it like cinema rules: laughter, cheers, applause are all great, but talking or yelling out is not. And another cinema rule…

· Please put your phone on silent. Photos are fine but please no video or flash photography.

· This is NOT a standing event. All audience members must be seated while the performance is underway, unless ordering at the bar or using the toilets. When ordering at the bar, please whisper.

· Entrance and exit is via the side door only; please wait outside at the door for ticket check and to be seated by the doorman.

· Tables are limited and you may have to share one. If you choose to sit on a row, please move all the way down to the end and don’t leave empty seats between groups. You may not be able to sit together if the remaining chairs available are spread out. If you are particular about seating we recommend arriving as early as possible.

· Seats in the front half of the room must be filled before seating in the back half is allocated.

· Seating in the alcove at the back is reserved for the comedians and their guests only.

· These shows are for people aged 18 and over. You may be asked to show ID if you do not look of age.

· Comedy Dundee does not necessarily agree or disagree with the opinions and viewpoints expressed by the comedians. Acts are booked based on their ability to make people laugh, beyond that we respect freedom of expression. If you disagree or are offended by what you hear, you are free to express this by not laughing, by leaving, or by respectfully raising your objections with the act after the show or via social media. You may not interrupt an on-going performance.

· Audience members who don’t respect these rules will be asked to leave.
