Celebrating 25 years of the album that defined breakbeat — Plump DJs return to Canberra for a special A Plump Night Out anniversary session at Friction Presents.Friction Presents welcomes back one of our all-time favourite acts to the Canberra dancefloor.
Plump DJs return to celebrate 25 years of their groundbreaking debut album "A Plump Night Out". A record that helped define the global breakbeat movement and reshape late-90s electronic music. Released on the legendary Finger Lickin' Records, the album became a benchmark for groove-driven, bass-heavy production and cemented the Plumps as pioneers of the UK breakbeat sound.
For many of us, this record was formative. It soundtracked warehouse parties, club residencies and countless dancefloors across the capital. Now, 25 years on, the duo are marking the anniversary with a special tour to honour the album that changed the game.
Expect a set that pays tribute to the classics that built a genre, alongside the rolling basslines and heavyweight grooves that have kept Plump DJs at the forefront of electronic music for over two decades. From Fabric and Glastonbury to global festival stages, their high-energy, genre-blurring style continues to inspire new generations of DJs and dancers alike.
Canberra crew, you must come out to play.
Supporting the Plumps is a stacked local line-up featuring A-Tonez, Eighty-K, Mikah Freeman, and Peekz B2B Fourthstate, delivering a full afternoon session of rolling breaks and bass at Hopscotch.
This is more than a headline show. It is a celebration of an album that defined a genre, and the community that grew with it.
Early arrival strongly encouraged.
