Pitches for the Freshers and Small slots are coming your way!
This is your opportunity to pitch for the Freshers and Small show slots, and if you are unsure what that means, prepare to be told things at:
Freshers:
-Is the first show of the year, usually with rehearsals in the first couple wees of term and the show week being the last week of term before Christmas
-The cast is open only to members who have never performed in a show before, so your show's appeal should aim to be at new people joining the Uni this coming year!
-Due to it being our main source of new members to the society, we like to aim for larger casts (between 23-28 ideally) but those are not hard boundaries
-Previous shows include "Spongebob", "Legally Blonde" and "Seussical"
Small:
-Is the second show of the year, rehearsals tend to begin around the same time as Freshers but the show dates are usually in 1 of the 2 weeks after January exams so is a long rehearsal time
-Anyone can audition, though we recommend that shows with cast sizes of 15 or less are pitched, hence "Small" (please don't do cats)
-Previous shows include "Little Shop of Horrors", "First Date" and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" (try saying that 5 times really fast)
GENERAL NOTICE (I saw u salute):
-Any member of the creatives side of a prod team (Director, MD, Choreo + Assistants) OR cast member of one of these shows cannot do those same roles in the other, i. e.: You cannot be in the cast of Freshers and MD Small, but other roles such as Producers can do both so you could direct one and produce another. This is due to the shows rehearsing on the same days (if this is confusing, yes)
