Fresh Faces is our yearly series spotlighting emerging local artists across genres and giving them a platform to grow. For this event we are collaborating with Folk Inspirations.
Folk Inspirations are a not-for-profit collective championing live folk music, community, and the next generation of performers.
Give it up for the amazing team at The Boileroom! They have given us the opportunity to put the spotlight on the young musicians we love as part of their Fresh Faces Festival. The first gig of our collaboration falls just a few days before International Women’s Day and we're beyond delighted that Amy Hollinrake will be headlining.
Inspired by English and Appalachian folk blended with alternative pop music, Amy Hollinrake draws on women’s stories within folklore and mythology and fuses them with a contemporary sound placing her at the forefront of the new era of feminist indie-folk. Described as 'absolutely haunting', BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour and 'Both timeless and utterly contemporary' Songwriting Magazine. Her recent EP 'Sad Lady Songs Vol.1. reimagines traditional folk songs and tales combining them dulcimers and synthesizers, to create a head spinning mix of yesterday and today.
