This Spring concert gives you the opportunity to experience two Buxton premieres and a chance to see our Musical Director Designate, Sam Hayes in action at the rostrum. Lili Boulanger’s dramatic setting of Psalm 130, contains many gems whose worth are only now being fully recognised.
Poulenc’s choral work Sept répons des ténèbres shows the two contrasting sides of Poulenc’s character – the deeply devout and uncontrollably sensual – as he contemplates the final week of Christ’s life.
The concert’s finale will be Saint-Saëns wonderful and rousing Organ Symphony with Buxton’s Andrew Cummings at the organ console.
Andrew Cummings – organ
Louise Innes – mezzo-soprano
