Not easy to define, The Life Aquatic doesn’t neatly fit into the category of comedy, drama, fantasy or adventure but encompasses elements of all – montaged together in Wes Anderson’s characteristic style.

The list of top Hollywood brass in this film is long but at the fore is the monotonic Bill Murray, the majestical Anjelica Huston and playing the bond company stooge, Bud Court – who is of course best known as Harold in the classic Harold and Maude (also playing as part of the Creative Community Cinema programme).
With a soundtrack by Seu Jorge reimagining David Bowie tracks and featuring stop motion animation by Henry Selick its a bit of a cinematic mash-up which didn’t work for a lot of critics but, as Roger Ebert said, ‘Since it does so many other things, does it have to work, too? Can’t it just exist?’
