Boo Reiners and Dave Post bring a little of the Swingadelic swagger to Freedy Johnston's Tuesday Night Live. Join us for an enchanting evening of American Standards.
Freedy Johnston: Originally from Kansas and now based in New Jersey, His sophomore album, Can You Fly, was described upon its 1992 release as “a perfect album” by The Village Voice. It has been remastered for compact disc and vinyl, including a clear vinyl first pressing and the 13-song Americana-rock classic. People described it as, “an extraordinary second album, one of the most tuneful, propulsive and penetrating of this or any year.”
Boo Reiners is a multi-instrumentalist performer, and leads the Hoboken-based Demolition String Band with Elena Skye. He is also a go-to sideman and collaborator for bands from a wide spectrum of musical genres, including Hoboken's own Swingadelic. His list of touring and recording credits also includes indie rockers Dispatch, Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh, Al Kooper, The Klezmatics, Pete Seeger, Zooey Dechanel and M. Ward, Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig, Michael Moore, to name a few.
Dave Post is bassist and band leader for Swingadelic, the little big band which was formed in 1998. The band has performed 1000 gigs at concerts, weddings, festivals, dances and clubs, from Boston to Atlanta. The big band rehearsed on Monday nights at Maxwells for many years, as well as playing Hoboken-centric events at Sinatra Park, the Arts & Music Festival and private events at the Elks club. They have performed at Lincoln Center and now have a Monday night residency at Swing 46 in Manhattan. They have released six CD's that have received airplay around the globe.
