A relaxed afternoon in the woods for people with dementia and their carer/supporterTime in nature supports our mental health and wellbeing.
This gentle woodland session is aimed at both people with early dementia and their carer/family member/supporter offering some time with others and an opportunity to take part in woodland activities.
Time in natures has been shown to reduce stress, enhance wellbeing, Our Woodland Wellbeing programme applies the principles of Forest School and the NHS' Five Ways to Wellbeing' (Be Active, Notice, Connect, Keep learning, Give back). Each group reflects the needs, aspirations and interests of those involved
Activities may include a walk in the woods, campfire cooking , woodcrafts and nature connection activities. Always including a cup of tea and the opportunity to do as much or as little as feels right.
These sessions are led by experienced forest school leaders, Emma and Rachel, supported by volunteers,
W e will meet at Lavant House, the old private school, and use their small wood which has access to a toilet and close parking if needed. We may visit other local woodlands on other dates depending on the wants and needs of the group.
