This program provides an in-depth look at Cesarean births, helping participants understand and prepare for the procedure, whether it's scheduled, urgent, or emergency.

Participants will learn:

• A comprehensive explanation of Cesarean birth procedures and what to anticipate before, during, and after the process.

• The concept of "gentle Cesareans" and how they differ from traditional methods.

• The differences between scheduled, urgent, and emergency Cesarean sections.

• The importance and procedure of skin-to-skin contact during and after a Cesarean.

• The crucial role of partner support, with a focus on effective coping strategies during a Cesarean birth.

• Valuable tips for a smoother recovery after a Cesarean section.

• Guidance on initiating and maintaining breastfeeding after a Cesarean.

• An optional introduction to the practice of "seeding" for gut flora in Cesarean-born babies.

Neighborhood Health Action Centers: The NYC Health Department's Neighborhood Health Action Centers in Brownsville, East Harlem, and Tremont provide a variety of resources and programs to serve residents’ health needs. These neighborhood assets bring together health care providers, New York City agencies, and community-based organizations and programs under one roof. The Action Centers make connecting to programs and services more efficient by providing a one-stop shop for community residents. They also provide community groups with space for community organizing and planning.
