About this Event

Join Bob Comeau as he takes you on a one-hour tour of Easthampton’s historic, Main Street Cemetery. Established around 1855, it is one of Easthampton’s oldest and most historically significant burial grounds. Located on Main Street near Glendale Street, it became the community’s principal cemetery after many early burials from the town’s original “Old Center Cemetery” were relocated here. The cemetery reflects Easthampton’s growth from a small farming settlement to a thriving mill town, with gravestones and monuments marking the resting places of early residents, veterans, and prominent local families.

For local historians and genealogists this cemetery is a source of family history, chronicling early Eastampton residents.

This program is supported by the Holyoke Preservation Trust and in part by a grant from the Easthampton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Meet and park within the cemetery which is just past 384 Main Street.

Please wear comfortable shoes and prepare to be out in the grass. You may want to bring bug repellant.

Cancellation: You will receive an email if the event is postponed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation (no matter how small) to help the Holyoke Preservation Trust with offering more free cultural and historical events and workshop materials.
