About Organizers:

Artemis Beasts - Vilma Duplantier and Shelly Voorhees (Lithuania, NYC) are multimedia artist. "We are two women, often finding ourselves wearing animal masks and imagining being half-animal. The reason is not a fetish :) It's our way to denounce injustice, take action and pay tribute to all the suffering species. Our mission as activist artists is to confront, question, and unsettle truth-telling. Advocating for animal rights has become our purpose and the pathway toward our own freedom. We speak through live performance, poetry, song, dance, painting, video art, and other mediums that can provoke thoughts and evoke feelings toward change.

More about Art:

Exploring anthropomorphic hybrids to bring awareness to Speciesism, body objectification, environmental consumption while searching for the real meaning of Freedom. Our art is driven by the idea of interconnectedness. By invisible strings, humans are entangled with nature, animals, and the universe in one single noetic field. We are all one, affecting one another.

More about the Speakers:

NYCLASS is a non-profit animal rights organization that worksto enact laws to protect animals and end abuse, and helps elect pro-animal candidates to office. One of NYCLASS's priority goals is passing Ryder's Law to BAN cruel horse carriages in New York City.

PETA opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview, and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment business. They also work on a variety of other issues.

ROBET HOLDEN Robert has been a very strong voice for animals as a NYC Council member (Queens, District 30), and pledges to continue and expand that work!

Let's come together to raise awareness and make a difference for animals in need and the health of our planet. See you there!

Thank you ChaShaMa for providing the Gallery space
