About this Event
Free-Soil Haven: The Revolutionary Spirit of Hayti is a 90-minute 1-square mile tour around the historic Hayti Neighborhood of Durham. Tour goers will visit 6 stops and be inspired by the foremothers and forefathers industrious contributions to the development of the City's largest African American residential and commercial district.
Aya Shabu and Conductors share emancipation strategies from the voices in tobacco manufacturing, beauty culture industry, St. Joseph's AME Church, NC Mutual, and from Highway 147 - a symbol of progress to some and displacement to others.
For the safety and enjoyment of all participants on the tour, please be advised that the tour route includes limited public sidewalks, litter, and uneven ground.
Be advised, the rain date is the 3rd Saturday of the same month at 10 am.
