You must bring your own equipment and wear everything necessary to feel safe. All outdoor environments vary! This session involves a rollout around Leeds City Centre for skaters with some outdoor experience. We will move at a manageable speed, and walking shortcuts might be available, but you are expected to keep up. If you cannot maintain the pace, the rollout will proceed without you.
You should carry shoes and be able to find your way back to transportation or the endpoint independently, which will be communicated at the start of the rollout.
While The Skate Sanctuary team members attending outdoor rollouts will strive to keep participants safe, all skating activities are at your own risk, similar to skating alone.
Rollouts are social meetups, not coaching sessions. Although The Skate Sanctuary team members may offer skating advice, it is entirely at their discretion.
Participants must ensure they are healthy enough to skate and possess the skills necessary for the meetup location. (Please note that although we aim for a relatively flat route, Leeds City Centre is hilly, with uneven pavements, and parts of the route may require skating on roads or cycle lanes).
If you wish to attend the rollout but are not ready to skate, other wheeled transport is acceptable. Some members have joined on scooters, which is an accessible way to participate and view the route.
You do not need to complete the entire route. If you decide to leave the group for any reason, please ensure someone in the group knows you are leaving, or wait until the next stop to avoid causing concern.
If you ever feel unable to skate to the required standard, we recommend removing your skates. This decision is yours alone, and you should not rely on a team member to advise you.
While we aim not to leave anyone behind, participants skate at their own risk and are expected to take care of themselves, understand the route, and remain aware of their surroundings.
Parking:
The rollout will start at The Skate Sanctuary. Parking in the evening and weekends is free and unrestricted for visitors.
Weather - Due to the glorious British Weather this session may need to be cancelled at short notice. If we have to cancel we'll give as much notice as possible and offer refunds to the value of the ticket price. If the session looks like it's going to go ahead but the conditions at the location aren't suitable/ there is some freak weather that stops the session last minute then we'll either look for an alternative or we'll go somewhere for a coffee/ chat instead
Suitable for all ages - age 14 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
As with all roll outs, you are entirely responsible for yourself, we accept no liability for your equipment or safety.
Skate within your limits.
Carry shoes so you can swap if needed.
Wear all the safety gear you need to feel safe.
We expect folks joining our roll out or skate meet to be confident to skate in crowded spaces and with others.
Skating with others is a fantastic experience and we need help from everyone to achieve this.
