Get ready to groove with your new favorite band: SUGARBEAR! A highly talented 3 piece group focused on crowd engagement, powerful vocals, and incredible musicianship. Since 2015, Sugar Bear has been captivating Bay Area crowds with their exciting blend of soul, dance, reggae, and rock. An award winning act recently named one of the Top 10 Tri-Valley's Best Bands! Fronted by Steve "Sugar Bear" McDowell, this group always delivers a show to remember.
Live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning tasting room and world-class music venue located in the heart of Livermore's urban wine, spirits and brewery district.
ABOUT STEVE "SUGAR BEAR" MCDOWELL
Singer-Songwriter Steve McDowell's music is a blend of many influences including jazz, reggae, soul, and funk. The room decides the music with Sugar Bear. Always looking to have a good time and create a positive vibe. Steve plays a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, steeldrum, bass guitar and drums.
Born and raised in Florida, Steve's father, Jack, worked for decades as a musician giving him early access to the Florida music scene. Local artists that played R&B, jazz, and worship talents helped to cultivate Steve's performance talents. Highlights include being the lead vocalist in The Cosmic Pimps, Reggae and Island shows as First Coast Steel, and performing shows for thousands in Northern Florida over a span of 20 years. A product of North Florida now residing in Northern California.
A mixed style music group called SUGARBEAR continues to be Steve's primary gig work. Now one of the East Bay's favorite live bands. Steve is also performing solo acoustic sessions locally.
VENUE POLICIES
- All shows are 21+. Set times and ticket prices are subject to change, and sales are final.
- Two drink minimum per adult guest. Our menu has 15 wines in diverse styles and sophisticated non-alcoholic options. No outside beverages are allowed.
- Outside food is welcome. Food trucks are available most nights around Vasco Row, steps away from our venue. Check www.vascorow.com and www.altamontbeerworks.com for the schedule.
- Dancing is encouraged at Almost Famous, and usually takes place in front of the stage. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a completely unobstructed view to those sitting at bistro tables.
