About this Event
The San Francisco Public Library continues its 100 Years of Surrealism film series with a screening of selected surrealist short films, followed by a screening of director Jan Švankmajer’s surreal feature film Alice.
In Alice (1989), Czech animation master and surrealist artist Svankmajer presents a dark, surrealistic interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, in which the young girl Alice follows a demonic rabbit through a decaying landscape littered with broken, discarded objects and nightmarish toys. Not for children!
NR, 96 mins., 1989. Closed captions (CC) in English.
This program is in the Main Library's Latino Room (lower level).
