About this Event
On Saturday, June 4, bring the kids with you to try their skills in the chess tournament starting at 10am. This FREE tournament will be hosted by the US Chess Center and Barracks Row Main Street Program for students in grades 2-8. Students need to register via the U.S. Chess Center to be entered in the tournament. Registration and more information can be found on the U.S. Chess Center's website.
The U.S. Chess Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of teaching students to play chess in order to improve their academic and social skills. We are the most experienced chess-teaching organization in the country, and we provide students from throughout the Washington metropolitan area opportunities to meet as friends and equals over the chessboard at our during- and after-school programs, weekend classes, tournaments, and special events. Since 1992, we have taught the game to almost 40,000 schoolchildren, representing more than 150 schools in the National Capital Area.
