For our 25th installment we’re bringing together five prominent figures of the Detroit jazz and creative music tradition for an evening of deep improvisation.Opening: Metro Detroit native, now living in Chicago, Nathan Erskine Smith (Woodwinds, Bass Clarinet, Clarinet and electronics) sets the tone with an intimate solo set, utilizing create atmospheric, textured soundscapes that bridge classical precision and avant-garde freedom.

Kenn Thomas (Piano): A Detroit pillar known for his sophisticated harmonic language and elegant touch.
Zekkereya El-magharbel (Trombone): A visionary artist (Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra) who integrates North African Maqam and Afro-Arab sonic histories.
Jaribu Shahid (Bass): A veteran of the Art Ensemble of Chicago and Sun Ra’s Arkestra, providing a legendary, deep-toned foundation.
David Hurley (Drums): A versatile rhythmic engine known for his conversational flow and technical ingenuity.
