Come out to the farm and learn/help to build some winecap mushroom beds, make your own oyster mushroom grow kit, and learn all about backyard mushroom cultivation.
Chris will start with a short explanation of outdoor mushroom cultivation. We'll discuss methods for growing chicken and hen of the woods, winecaps, blewits, portobello, oyster, lion's mane, shiitake, and even morels which can be cultivated but are not as likely to be successful as others.
Jess and Chris will then build a demonstrative wine cap bed before we break up into small groups where everyone can get their hands in the spawn and build their own beds.
Following this, we will regroup for a workshop on straw cultivation and opportunity for everyone to make their own oyster mushroom grow kit.
There will be ample time for Q&A, and we will have mushroom spawn available for your own mushroom growing adventures at home as well as mushroom grow kits, fresh mushrooms, mushroom jerky, teas, tinctures, and more.
Take home a free bucket, bag, or Buick full of spent mushroom substrate/compost for your garden!
