Florida Youth Triathlon Foundation, Inc. (“FYT”) is proud to announce its first ever Meek & Mighty Prep Clinic. This clinic will be geared towards helping new triathletes, including those racing for the first time at Meek & Mighty.This clinic will be geared towards beginners aged 12 or younger, and we will cap the clinic at 20 participants. If you would like special accommodations, please contact us in advance.
Cost: Free! Pre-registration is required.
Date/Time: March 28, 2026, 11am - 1pm.
Location: Walter Fuller Recreation Center (7891 26th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710).

Jen Hutchison – USA Triathlon Level 3 Elite Level Certified Coach, and a prior recipient of the USOC/USAT Development Coach of the Year. She currently coaches for Ironclad Coaching, but many locals know her as the long-time coach of Triton Elite, one of the most successful youth development programs in State history. Jen will also be presenting at two pre-race clinics at Vinoy Park as part of their weekend on-site clinic schedule.
Leo Briceno – “Open Water Leo” as he is known throughout Tampa Bay runs Open Water Swim LLC, which puts on OWS races and group practices year-round. Notably, he will help FYT host a free youth OWS at Pass-a-Grille beach on May 16th. Leo will also lead two pre-race clinics at Vinoy Park in the lead-up to St. Anthony’s
Andrew Eligon – Andrew has extensive coaching and competitive triathlon experience. After pursuing the sport competitively in the USA, Andrew assisted the Trinidad & Tobago Triathlon in the establishment of a successful youth development program. Since then, he has been involved in several coaching and sports management endeavors, including his current business, Unity Timing & Events, LLC. Unity hosts a variety of local multisport events and offers free scholarships for those who need financial assistance for swim lessons.
Don & Melissa Stacy - Coaches Don and Melissa Stacy regularly act as guest instructors for Swim Like a Pro’s Mini-Slappers. Both are also heavily involved with adaptive and special needs triathletes in various charities, including the Special Olympics and Wounded Warrior Project. Don is also USA triathlon level II, and Paralympic and USAC certified level I.
Additional Details:
When you arrive, please make sure your child brings all necessary items, including a helmet, a bike, swim cap, goggles, and running shoes (please contact us in advance if you need assistance obtaining any of these items). Please arrive 10 minutes early and check-in and sign all necessary paperwork at the Walter Fuller Recreation Center, Room 1.
Portions of the clinic will be held at both the Walter Fuller Pool and the Azalea Middle School parking lot. A detailed schedule with additional instructions will be sent in advance to all confirmed participants closer to the event.

The School Board of Pinellas County, Florida is neither sponsoring nor affiliated with this event. All coaches, who have generously offered their time to create this clinic, are unpaid volunteers with no official affiliation with FYT.
