Join us for a Lion Dance performance to bring good luck and prosperity to the Lunar New Year!
Lion Dance is a performance art that employs a blend of martial arts, acrobatics, and dance. The traditionally-crafted lions were originally intended to scare off evil spirits and protect good ones, but continue to celebrate cultural festivals and important occasions today such as Lunar New Year and weddings.
Cal VSA Lion Dance, founded in 2012 through the Vietnamese Student Association's Culture Show, is UC Berkeley’s one and only student-run lion dance team. Earnestly serving the local bay area for the past 11 years, they've developed a tight-knit team of students and alumni connected by culture, passion, and camaraderie.

La Danza del León es un arte escénico que combina artes marciales, acrobacias y danza. Los leones, elaborados tradicionalmente, originalmente tenían como objetivo ahuyentar a los malos espíritus y proteger a los buenos, pero hoy en día siguen celebrándose en festivales culturales y ocasiones importantes como el Año Nuevo Lunar y las bodas.
Cal VSA Lion Dance, fundada en 2012 a través del Espectáculo Cultural de la Asociación de Estudiantes Vietnamitas, es el único equipo de danza del león dirigido por estudiantes de UC Berkeley. Sirviendo con dedicación al área de la bahía local durante los últimos 11 años, han desarrollado un equipo muy unido de estudiantes y exalumnos unidos por la cultura, la pasión y la camaradería.
