About this Event
Step into the story of Pvt. Johnny Johnston, a Beverly WAC, through photographs, storytelling, and a slideshow presentation exploring one woman’s journey through the Women’s Army Corps during World War II. From basic training in Des Moines to training pilots as a radio communications and Morse code operator, Johnston’s story highlights the patriotism, challenges, and groundbreaking service of women who volunteered during wartime.
The evening will also feature WAC uniforms and artifacts on display provided by Historic Beverly and 3-5-0 Girls. Doors open at 6:00 PM, lecture at 6:30 PM, followed by a Q&A with Jean, Mel Bloom of 3-5-0 Girls, and Lucy Keller of Historic Beverly.
Free and open to the public in honor of Women Veterans Day.
