Come meet Barney & K.Lani and dip your toes onto the partner dance floor! This open style dance will give you the skills to connect on dance floor and jumpstart your to learning any other partner dance.
This FREE Introduction to Fusion Partner Dance leads into our Level 1 Fusion Dance series starting Sept 24,
and Level 1.5 series starts Oct 29.
Fusion Dance Level 1 is intended for students with no experience in partnered dance.
While Fusion is a partnered dance, you do not need to sign up with a partner.
Fusion started from trying to mix different partner dances and evolved to focus on what they have in common. How do we connect with a partner? What do we do to this song? Fusion invites dancers to play and adapt to whatever the dance floor brings. And all of these skills can be applied to any other partner dance! It is typically danced to a variety of modern, popular music, so there is no specific rhythm, sound, or look to Fusion. And this means Fusion adapts to all kinds of music, and all kinds of dancers no matter their background.
Though Barney and K.Lani both started partner dancing in university; Barney started with Ballroom dance; and K.Lani started as a solo Contemporary dancer. Both found a love of swinging out to Lindy Hop. So they came to Fusion from different backgrounds but together found the love of playfully connected dances! Barney comes from the structure of learning many Ballroom dances and K.Lani approaches with an interdisciplinary mindset pulling from the many solo and partner genres she has studied. Between them decades teaching experience come together to make classes that teach not just the steps but the technique behind them, with patience and laughter.
