What to expect?
Each session will be a blend of ball familiarity, technical work, physical conditioning and fun game situations. Many consider goalkeeping to be one of the most enjoyable forms of exercise given the variety of movements and skill required.
Who is it for?
Goalkeepers aged 7-15 of all abilities welcome.
Additional GK Classroom?
Each week the hosts of the popular Goalkeepers Union podcast will host a weekly goalkeeping classroom over the medium of Zoom in order to discuss goalkeeping topics and answer any goalkeeping questions that you may have. Richard holds a qualification as a master practitioner of neuro linguistic programming so will incorporate psychological learnings coupled with his experience of playing at the top end of the English pyramid.
Who is your coach?
Richard Lee will personally coach in Dubai.
Rich played just shy of 200 games in a career that saw him called up to an England U21 squad, play many games for Watford in the Premier League (including games against the likes of Ronaldo) and the Championship. He also captained Brentford as well as enjoying stints at both Blackburn and Fulham before retiring at the age of 32 through injury.
He now represents 30+ Professional goalkeepers in the Premier League, Championship and MLS. He is also the co-host of the Goalkeepers Union podcast alongside Matt Beadle. The popular show has had in excess of 250,000 listens and includes interviews with the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Ben Foster, Tom Heaton, Nick Pope, Joe Hart and many more.
Why Dubai?
Rich is the founder of GK Icon Academies. GK Icon boast in excess of 40 goalkeepers schools across the world and he has a vision of helping Dubai produce some of the goalkeeping stars of the future. (Goalkeepers Union is partnered with GK Icon.)
The schedule;
Goalkeepers Union Dubai will operate 40 weeks of the year, split into 5 blocks of 8 sessions.
How much;
Each block of 8 sessions will cost 1,500 Dhs.
The first payment will include a full kit (leggings, undertop, shorts and t-shirt). Each participate will also have access to the weekend goalkeeping classroom as part of the package.
There will be a strict maximum capacity of 10 goalkeepers per hour.
Where and when?
Monday, 6-7pm. 7-11 year olds. Safa Community School.
Monday, 7-8pm. 12-15 year olds. Safa Community School.
Saturday, 9-10am. 7-11 year olds. Emirates International School Meadows.
Saturday, 10-11am. 12-15 year olds. Emirates International School Meadows.
