This April we shine the spotlight on First Nations artists and create space for stories that speak to Country, connection and culture.
Join Kamilaroi artist Warraba Weatherall as he speaks to his immersive new work, Mother Tongue. This stark and incisive work explores the interconnectedness of land, culture and bodily experience in a world where language has been shaped and co-opted through colonisation. In this exclusive Friday Art Talk, Warraba reflects on how knowledge, care and ongoing maintenance are essential to the continuation of culture.
5th National Indigenous Art Triennial: After the Rain is now on display at the National Gallery in Level 1, Gallery 12 until 27 April 2026.
Friday Art Talks is a free weekly program. Hear from artists, curators and experts on the works in our collection and exhibition program.
