Wichita is home to artists who represent dance traditions that span the globe—dancers who teach, study, and perform movement arts to honor their cultural heritage and foster community. Join us for a panel conversation among experts in Chinese martial arts and Indian classical dance about how "Alex Katz: Theater and Dance" resonates with their work.

About the panelists:
Sonalli Kurlekar ◆ is a Kathak dancer and cultural practitioner dedicated to sharing one of India’s most celebrated classical dance traditions with Wichita audiences. Trained in the classical Kathak lineage, her work explores storytelling, rhythm, and expressive movement while emphasizing cultural context and accessibility. Through performance, teaching, and thoughtful curation, she seeks to expand awareness of Kathak and foster cross-cultural dialogue.
Grace Wu-Monnat ◆ is a master instructor of Chinese martial arts and founder of the Grace Wu Kung Fu School in Wichita. Trained in a distinguished Wushu lineage spanning three generations, she holds degrees from Shanghai Normal University and Wichita State University. A former Shanghai Wushu team member and international judge, Grace promotes Chinese martial arts as a living movement art and cultural tradition.
Christina Byram ◆ is a Wichita-based dance instructor and member of Amira Dance Productions whose work centers on storytelling, cultural expression, and community connection through movement. Trained in multiple Indian classical dance styles, as well as Bollywood and other global forms, she uses dance as a way to share narratives, build belonging, and foster meaningful artistic exchange. Her teaching creates inclusive spaces that encourage confidence, connection, and respect for the traditions she continues to study and honor.
