About this Event
Three Seattle Children’s Chorus ensembles unite: Camerata, Arioso, and Coro Vivo—dynamic youth choirs performing diverse repertoire, in a vibrant shared concert demonstrating talent far beyond their years.
This richly varied program weaves together folk traditions, contemporary choral writing, gospel and timeless spiritual themes to create an afternoon of warmth, reflection, and connection. From the gentle lyricism of Scottish and Welsh melodies like Loch Lomond, Suo Gan, and The Skye Boat Song, to the lively storytelling of American folk songs such as Nine Hundred Miles and Acres of Clams, the concert celebrates music rooted in shared human experience.
Modern voices bring fresh perspective, with works like Crowded Table and In the Middle exploring community and belonging, while When the Earth Stands Still and Time offer moments of stillness and introspection. Spiritual depth emerges in pieces like The Drinking Gourd and I Know I’ve Been Changed, and dramatic intensity rises in Dies Irae.
The program closes with a sense of unity and hope, from the vibrant rhythms of Kanaval to the serene beauty of Sing Gently and the beloved blessing of The Lord Bless You and Keep You. Altogether, this concert invites listeners on a journey across landscapes, histories, and emotions—reminding us of the enduring power of song to bring people together.
The choir is directed by Dr. Jean-Marie Kent.
