The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Missouri, is a distinguished independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school serving students from Early Years through 12th grade. The Pembroke Hill School Choirs have long been a defining feature of the school’s culture, fostering artistic excellence, collaboration, and a strong sense of community across generations of students.Today, more than one third of the Upper School student population participates in choir during their time at Pembroke Hill. Students encounter a wide range of choral literature, including classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, jazz, world music, and emerging voices in the choral canon. Through this repertoire, singers develop vocal technique, musicianship, stylistic understanding, and the ensemble skills that are foundational to collaborative artistry. The choral program also provides students with opportunities to perform beyond campus. Pembroke Hill singers regularly share their music throughout the region, across the country, and internationally. The PHS Concert Choir has earned national recognition, including participation in the Heritage Music Festival in Orlando, where the ensemble received the Adjudicator’s Award along with multiple first-place gold medal plaques. Students have also had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of the National Youth Choir. These achievements reflect the program’s high standards and its emphasis on musical excellence, preparation, and expressive performance.
