Why take this class?
You are curious about swing dancing and want to give it a try in a relaxed, friendly environment. You might have never danced before, feel a bit nervous, or simply want to see what Lindy Hop is all about. This free taster is a chance to move, have fun, and experience the joy of social dancing with no pressure and no commitment.

Who is it for?
This session is for complete beginners. No dance experience needed and no partner required. Everyone is welcome, whether you come on your own or with friends, and whether you want to dance one role or try both.

What will I learn?
You will be gently introduced to the basics of Lindy Hop, including
• Simple rhythms and movements
• The fundamentals of partner dancing and connection
• How dancing works socially so you feel comfortable joining in
The aim is to help you feel relaxed, confident, and ready to enjoy the dance floor.

Your teachers
Tanya and Sophie teach together and create a warm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. We teach both lead and follow roles and encourage dancers to explore either role if they wish. Our focus is on connection, musicality, confidence, and enjoying the dance.

What is Lindy Hop?
Lindy Hop is a Black American vernacular dance that developed in Harlem in the 1920s and 1930s, danced to authentic jazz music. It grew out of Black American communities as a form of joy, expression, and connection. We honour the history and culture of Lindy Hop in our teaching and in the community we are building.
