WGTE Public Media, your local PBS station, is pleased to invite you to a FREE special advance screening of The American Revolution, a new documentary film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt.Each evening begins with a special gathering for educators, featuring refreshments, giveaways, and an introduction to PBS LearningMedia resources and multimedia challenges connected to the film. Following the screening, a local historian will provide additional context and insights:
October 30 – Dr. Ami Pflugrad-Jackisch, Professor and Chair of the History Department at the University of Toledo, will discuss the Revolutionary era.
November 12 – Dr. Shirley Green, historian, Director of Toledo Police Museum and author of Revolutionary Blacks, will share the story of her family’s involvement in the Revolutionary War.
Evening Schedule:
6:30 p.m. – Educator gathering in the McMaster Education Center
7:00 p.m. – Screening in the WGTE studio
7:30 p.m. – Historian presentation
