About this Event
In a landmark event marking the end of an era, Southwest Gallery has been exclusively chosen to assist in the sale of the remaining inventory from the publisher and estate of Frederick Hart. No additional works will ever be produced by the publisher, making this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for collectors and admirers.
This special exhibition will feature the final pieces available from the estate…. many of them the last works accessible in the existing market. Select highly sought-after sculptures will be offered at unprecedented pricing never before seen, creating an unparalleled opportunity for collectors and honoring the legacy and final chapter of a master sculptor.
Frederick Hart was one of the most important sculptors of the twentieth century, celebrated for his masterful craftsmanship and profound spiritual vision. He is best known for Ex Nihilo, part of his Creation Sculptures at Washington National Cathedral, and for The Three Servicemen (also known as The Three Soldiers) at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Working within the figurative tradition of American Beaux-Arts sculpture, Hart approached his art as a devoted craftsman. With little formal schooling, he refined his skills through hands-on experience, studying ancient techniques alongside master carvers. Modeling primarily in clay, he carved his larger works in Italian marble or limestone or cast them in bronze. Throughout his career, Hart explored themes of beauty, spirituality, consciousness, and identity; often sculpting in transparent and semi-transparent acrylic materials through a patented process uniquely his own. Balancing classical mastery with emotional intensity and spiritual depth, His voice remained distinctly his own.
Collectors, patrons, and admirers are invited to experience this extraordinary exhibition on Saturday, June 13th, and celebrate the enduring life and work of Frederick Hart. This event represents the final opportunity to acquire works released from the publisher’s inventory and estate, marking the definitive close of a remarkable chapter in American sculpture. Guests are invited to experience not only a historic collection, but an unforgettable evening and enjoy live classical music, cocktails, and elegant hors d’oeuvres, while exploring the final works of Frederick Hart.
