About this Event
Having presented the very funny and eventful MacAulay and Co on BBC Radio Scotland for almost 18 years and with a string of tv appearances since 1995, Fred’s on air witticisms and on screen reputation are the product of years of experience on the live circuit, including a stint as the first ever-Scottish compere at the Comedy Store in London.
He has successfully featured in and presented many programmes for BBC TV: still fondly remembered for co-hosting the talk show McCoist and MacAulay and presenting Life According to Fred, Hoots, Simply Fred and Scots on the Box.
Appearances on many Radio 4 comedy panel shows including I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, Just A Minute, The Unbelievable Truth and The News Quiz guarantee an audience for Fred’s Live stand-up tours, and in the last 4 years he has introduced a huge number of new (and old) comedians in his Radio4 Series “Fred At The Stand” series 4 of which was broadcast in Autumn 2021.
On national television he has been a panellist on shows including Mock the Week, QI and Have I Got News For You. In addition he was a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson twice on US television and his performance at The Montreal Comedy Festival has been shown coast to coast in North America as well. In 2016 he was selected to appear on Australian tv covering the referendum vote on “Brexit at Tiffanys”
He lasted 7 out of 11 nights when he sang on Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. Further charity challenges saw him kayak the Caledonian Canal for Sport Relief, he has climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and his West Highland Way walk was broadcast on STV.
Can’t make this time? Fred will also be performing a late show 9:30pm.
**PLEASE READ CAREFULLY**
· Tickets can be refunded or exchanged no less than 24 hours before the show.
· The show is in two 35 minute parts separated by an interval. Doors open at 6pm, one hour before the start time of 7pm. Please arrive before the show starts but not before 6pm. Attendees who arrive late will not be granted admission or a refund.
· We will be having a second showing afterwards, so all attendees of this show must exit the venue by 9pm.
· This is NOT a standing event. All audience members must be seated while the performance is underway, unless ordering at the bar or using the toilets. When ordering at the bar, please whisper.
· Entrance and exit is via the side door only; please wait outside at the door for ticket check and to be seated by the doorman.
· You will probably have to share a table. You may not be able to sit together if the remaining chairs available are spread out. If you are particular about seating we recommend arriving as early as possible.
· Seats in the front half of the room must be filled before seating in the back half is allocated.
· Seating in the alcove at the back is reserved for the comedians and their guests only.
· Don’t talk or heckle during the performances. This rule is NOT optional. It is very distracting for both the performer and other audience members. Some performers (usually the host) might talk to the audience, but otherwise please let the comedians do the talking. Heckling does not ‘help the show’. Think of it like cinema rules: laughter, cheers, applause are all great, but talking or yelling out is not. And another cinema rule…
· Please put your phone on silent. Photos are fine but please no video or flash photography.
· If your chair is not facing the stage when you come in, please rotate it when the show starts.
· These shows are for people aged 18 and over. Due to licencing 17 year olds can attend accompanied by a parent or guardian, but we cannot allow entry to those aged 16 and under, accompanied or not. You may be asked to show ID if you do not look of age.
· Comedy Dundee does not necessarily agree or disagree with the opinions and viewpoints expressed by the comedians. Acts are booked based on their ability to make people laugh, beyond that we respect freedom of expression. If you disagree or are offended by what you hear, you are free to express this by not laughing, by leaving, or by respectfully raising your objections with the act after the show or via social media. You may not interrupt an on-going performance.
· Audience members who repeatedly break these rules will be asked to leave.
