Join us to celebrate Dundee's creative community and some of the grassroots projects that have animated the city this year!
About this Event

Before the year closes out, we're making time to come together and celebrate the joy of community and collectivity in Dundee’s creative scene!

Join us on Thursday 12 December at Hapworks_00 for a festive party where we’ll gather to look back at some of the fantastic grassroots projects and collaborations that have animated our city this year with short talks sharing the successes, learnings, and challenges of getting new ideas off the ground.

A special-edition “Pass the Mic” will invite you to share your highlights of the year, what got you through the tough times, and what you hope 2025 will bring, with other opportunities to share throughout the evening. After that, there’s plenty of time to warm the soul before the winter break with good company, drinks and music until 10pm.

On the night we will hear from:

BLETHER is a new monthly night dedicated to Scots language performance. Every month Elfie Picket host two professional performers from the local and national cultural scene for a night of music, poetry, songs, spoken word, and more. There is also a short open mic as part of the evening where anyone is welcome to take a turn.

Their special guests so far have included poets Victoria McNulty, Liz Niven, Shane Strachan, Mae Diansangu, Mark Richardson, Mark Thomson, Fever Peach, Tom Jamieson. Storytellers/performers Jade Anderson, Morna Burdon, Erin Farley and Lucy Beth and musicians Belle Kinnear and Lynne Campbell. BLETHER is produced by Sweet Productions and run by Elfie Picket Theatre.

are a nonhierarchical group of artists and art workers who have gathered to coordinate locally, standing with the people of Palestine at a time of immense horror. Aiming to energise and make visible support for Palestine in our community and in the arts, they urge the organisations and institutions they work with and within to commit to meaningful action.

As part of the Art Workers for Palestine Scotland network, they continue to demand our city’s arts and cultural spaces and organisations break their silence on the atrocities inflicted on the people of Palestine. Through campaigning and events such as screenings, active making and discussion sessions, they raise both funds and awareness

is a volunteer-led grassroots space located in the Keiller Centre and run by Robyn Scanlan. Originally a flower shop, the studio now hosts music and spoken word nights, low-cost and accessible workshops, free exhibitions, and a small urban garden offering hands-on horticulture learning. It is an environment for contemporary artists to experiment, socialise and take up space.

Robyn also delivers outreach across Dundee to primary and secondary schools, eco and leadership groups, and community centres. They have also started to establish an archive, The City & The City, that collects material capturing life in Dundee’s urban spaces and the works of local artists, presented in the form of a celebratory exhibition twice yearly.

More speakers to be announced.

Doors open at 7.00pm with presentations from projects starting at 7.30pm.
