Frankie and the Witch Fingers est un groupe californien de rock garage qui a notamment assuré les premières parties de leurs compères de Thee Oh Sees. À leurs débuts, ils évoluaient dans une pop psychédélique à la croisée de Temples et Tame Impala, avant de prendre un virage plus brut en 2017 : un rock plus instinctif, aux rythmes soutenus et à la batterie percutante. À les écouter, on pense à la folie psychédélique de King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard ou à l’énergie explosive de The Hives.
Porté par Dylan Sizemore et Josh Menashe, Frankie and the Witch Fingers enchaîne depuis les albums abrasifs sur des labels de référence comme Greenway, Permanent ou The Reverberation Appreciation Society. Avec un line-up en perpétuelle évolution, leur son reste en mouvement constant : riffs fuzzés, rythmes frénétiques et énergie incantatoire. Un condensé de rock psyché survitaminé, taillé pour la scène.

Als je je oren spitst op de scheuren in de San Andres en luistert naar het gorgelende gekraak van de wereld, kom je misschien in de buurt van de tektonische donder die de afgelopen jaren vanuit LA klinkt onder de vlag van Frankie and the Witch Fingers. De band, die gevormd en gehard werd in de indie-enclave Bloomington in het middenwesten en met hun vroege singles de aandacht trok van de psychedelische scene in Chicago, trok naar het westen rond dezelfde tijd dat de crew van Permanent zich vestigde in de Golden State.
Met platen verspreid over labels als Hypnotic Bridge, Permanent, Greenway en The Reverberation Appreciation Society, is de band sindsdien een steeds evoluerende kracht van ritmische rock-’n’-roll geweest. Onder leiding van songwriters Dylan Sizemore en Josh Menashe heeft de band door de jaren heen een wisselende groep vrienden en medewerkers om zich heen gehad, die elk hun eigen specifieke bijdrage hebben geleverd aan de berg van geluid die Witch Fingers produceert.
