About this Event
Join Weinberg Modern for a Mittagspause—translating to “lunchbreak” in German—with a lecture series led by Special Projects Curator, Charlotte von Hardenburgh. This lunchtime series is an opportunity to feast your eyes on the mesmerizing spring wire jewelry designs of Fran Hosken (Austrian, 1919–2006).
Charlotte von Hardenburgh’s curatorial work highlights the influential yet underrepresented role of women within design and her research centers these narratives to establish a more expansive and inclusive re-interpretation of American design history.
As the Special Projects Curator at Weinberg Modern—von Hardenburgh is researching the jewelry designs of Fran Hosken. Prior to joining Weinberg, she was the American Women’s History Initiative Research Fellow at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum where she contributed research to the exhibition and first monographic publication of the textile designer and weaver, Dorothy Liebes.
von Hardenburgh also teaches undergraduate history courses at Parsons School of Design. She is a graduate of the History of Design and Curatorial Studies MA program offered jointly by Parsons School of Design and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
Each November, NYC Jewelry Week proudly presents ‘The Week,’ a 7-day celebration dedicated to the art of jewelry. This annual event invites a global audience to explore the world of jewelry through a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual experiences, spanning New York City and beyond.
