SEPT 25 • GILBERT CASTELLANOSJazz Past, Present, Future
Malik Minert - Piano
Collier Keitany - double bass
Trumpeter, bandleader, educator, composer, and arranger Gilbert Castellanos uses every opportunity he has to “keep jazz alive” in his community, and beyond, through partnerships and collaborations with major arts and music organizations. His biggest investment is in raising up younger generations, and creating platforms to highlight their extraordinary talent - including hiring them in his professional working band for major concerts and performances.
According to San Diego musician and music critic Bart Mendoza, "San Diego has had many jazz legends call San Diego home, but few have been as vital to San Diego's music community as Gilbert [Castellanos] continues to be for local jazz... [H]is combos never fail to conjure up some of the best jazz San Diego has ever produced."
You’ll be astounded by Gilbert’s trio, and their musical presentation of the past, present and future of Jazz!
